——Launch of HF1200 High-Performance Superconducting Tape for Nuclear Fusion with Major Breakthroughs in Key Performance Indicators
From September 20 to 26, 2025, the 17th European Conference on Applied Superconductivity (EUCAS 2025), the annual grand event in the global superconducting field, was successfully held in Porto, Portugal. Eastern Superconducting Technology (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Eastsuper"), a subsidiary of Jiangsu Etern Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Etern") and a pioneer in China's second-generation high-temperature superconducting (2G-HTS) tape industry, participated in the conference with its core technological achievements. Its breakthrough progress has attracted great attention from international peers.

During the conference, Eastsuper delivered an academic report titled "New Breakthroughs in Industrialization Performance Indicators of 2G-HTS for Controlled Nuclear Fusion Using MOCVD Technology" and officially launched the HF1200 model, a member of the HF series products specifically designed for low-temperature and high-magnetic-field under Eastsuper's 2G-HTS product line. Developed by the team of Dr. Chen Yimin, an authoritative expert in superconductivity, after more than a year of intensive research, this product is a kilometer-level REBCO superconducting tape suitable for controlled nuclear fusion scenarios.
Test results show that its core performance indicators are as follows: the 12mm-wide, 1107-meter-long HF1200 tape has an average critical current (Average Ic) of 424A with a standard deviation of only 8.8A at 77K and 0T, demonstrating extremely strong performance stability. Through Physical Property Measurement System (PPMS) testing and extrapolation calculation, the critical currents of the samples at both ends of the tape reach 1299A and 1340A respectively under the conditions of 20K, 20T, and magnetic field parallel to the c-axis (B∥c). This indicator represents a historic major breakthrough among the mass-produced REBCO tapes reported in existing literature.

Since its establishment, Eastsuper has been committed to the R&D and industrialization of 2G-HTS tapes and related application products. It has now achieved localization of the entire industrial chain for tape production through fully independent intellectual property rights. Among them, Hastelloy tape, a key material, has signed a strategic joint R&D framework agreement with the Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and has achieved mass supply. Currently, Eastsuper's products have been applied in scenarios such as controlled nuclear fusion, medical nuclear magnetic resonance, superconducting power, and superconducting maglev.
Looking forward, Eastsuper will continue to increase R&D investment, further leverage its own advantages, and enhance the efficiency of technological innovation transformation. Meanwhile, the company will deepen global cooperation, work with industrial chain partners to promote the commercialization of applied superconducting technology, and contribute Chinese strength to the achievement of the "dual carbon" goals!
